Deathsong Chronicles - Sonata 6

The two soul warriors reached the top, and ran into the commanding bridge, weapons out and ready. They expected heavy security, at the very least.

What they found was instead was total devastation. Flames everywhere, and dead bodies of the AERIA's commanders. Xepher was going to ask Jennifer what to do, when suddenly Jesslyn cried out in shock.

Xepher spun around, and saw two figures there, that certainly weren't there before. And both were familiar to him. The two who brought him up. Orologio and Eculemess.

"You two...!" said Xepher.
"Hello...Xepher." said Orologio, his so-called father.
"It's been...a long time..." said Eculemess, his so-called mother.
"You...you two have been...in control of the AERIA?!" said Xepher exasperately.
"Thought that we might save you the trouble. Get to fight someone as strong as you for once, eh?" asid Orologio.
"And what does that mean?!" demanded Xepher.
"The Fermion cannon is about to fire at Rursus. If that happens, Rursus will lose three continents to devastation." said Orologio. "Destroy the cannon in fifteen minutes, or lose your little world." He laughed as he and Eculemess disappeared.

"Damn it." muttered Xepher. He and Jesslyn raced back to the lift, but did'nt care about it. They just leapt down the hundreds of floors.

Jesslyn erupted into her true Phoenix form, while Xepher used his demon wings to hover, to avoid smashing into various protrusions from the wall and to flutter to a stop before smashing into the ground.

They ran to the Fermion cannon's nuclear reactor core room, and began to methodically destroy one reactor after the other. Jesslyn set explosive charges to the main reactor. The guards there were just several soldiers armed with swords and submachineguns, who were taken out quite quickly.

As the four sub-reactors exploded, the warning lights flared crimson in the main reactor. The two soul warriors escaped the reactor room as Jesslyn detonated the bomb.

The reactor chamber vanished in an explosion of epic porportions.

As they returned to the lander, Jennifer took stock of what happened, when suddenly a massive lurch sent all of them sprawling to the ground.

"What...?" uttered Dragonsniper and Carolyn.
"...!!" Jennifer was checking the readings on the AERIA. "The ship! It's hurtling to Rursus at an alarming rate!!"

"That's right." said Orologio, appearing behind them all, a hologram. "I just ordered the AERIA to destroy Rursus, and it obliged with the most direct, simple way."

"By crashing into Rursus?!" snarled Xepher.
"Yes...the simplest way." said Orologio, completely at ease. "Unless you want two-thirds of Rursus completely destroyed by the impact, I'd suggest you to come to the brain room. It is the master control room, and it is this that I have taken control of. Even now, the self-operated defenses have been activated, all except the path to the brain. I will wait for you..." with that he vanished.

"..." Xepher looked determined to destroy the ship.
"You cannot go alone. It's too dangerous." said Jennifer.
"No. I will not jepordize the crew for this...and this is personal." said Xepher quietly. He started to walk towards the exit.

"Please...just come back in one piece." implored Jennifer. "I can't live with myself if you'd sacrifice yourself for us."
"Is this an order?" asked Xepher.
"...Yes. This is a direct order." Jennifer replied.
"Roger!" he started to run. Faster and faster to the brain room.
