Deathsong Chronicles - Prelude 10

"So you could...uttered one voice,"So you could, but me."

Kaithlyn turned, and beheld the one force she could never best, only lose to in a fight. Her sister, the black scourge, the lady of the demon world. Kaffleen.

She appeared in the midst of the destruction, seeming unfazed by the torment all living beings in the area felt. In her grip was a rune-engraved sword, the Kunou no Yami, the Pain of Darkness.

Kaithlyn sent a shockwave at her sister, which was parried with a blast of pure lightning. Kaithlyn staggered. She then conjured her own sword, the Hi Rai Nodachi, the Flamethunder Dualhander.

They charged at each other, and caused an earthquake of colossal porportions. The heavens became dark as thunder rolled one after another, lightning flashing in a jarring display of colours.

"You are too weak to even match a fraction of me, and yet you boast of your power to these weaklings. Join me, sister, and you may become much stronger under my teachings." taunted Kaffleen.

"Weak or not, I will kill you!" screamed Kaithlyn, becoming an insane monster of a hybrid. She shrieked, and attacked again, with both physical and mental assaults.

Kaffleen just smirked and retaliated with physical and magical assaults. "And this is but my messenger, not my real self. You cannot even defeat my shadow, and you claim yourself powerful. You are weak!" said Kaffleen. Kaithlyn was knocked down, and Kaffleen attacked her with spell after spell.

Lightning, fire, ice, winds, molten earth, searing light and the darkness of the night attacked Kaithlyn. At last, she fell, utterly defeated. Kaffleen laughed softly, and turned to the allied army.

"Let this be a warning to you weak beings. If any of you defies me more, I will personally make sure that is is the last thing you do." she declared. She turned back to her own army of demons, and said:" All of you are to return to my realm now. This is an order." With that, she disappeared.

The demons, upon receiving their orders, immediately cast a portal and vanished through it.

Kaithlyn rose up, weak and defeated. She gave the alliance one last glare, and flew away with her wings.

Xepher, finally released from the psychic bonds, fell to the ground, bloody with wounds. He walked back to the silent army, and said:" Well...that takes care of the demon armies. Let's go and tear down those strongholds!"

His words were greeted with cheers.

All was well, as no demons attacked the human realm. Not until several years later.

But that, as this tale, is another tale, part of the Deathsong Chronicles.
