Deathsong Chronicles - Symphony 10

As the avians converged on him, Xepher danced past them, slicing out at each a couple of times. They cried in pain and formed a triangular formation. A portal formed, and a hellbeast leapt out.

Xepher blasted it into smithreens and sliced again at the avians, who fled with shrieks. Nocturna cursed, and charged again.

Xepher and Nocturna clashed with tremendous force, and the ground cracked. Blade and claws swirling around in a metal cloud, deep gouges appearing in the ground and ceiling.

After a couple of fast and furious minutes, Nocturna and Xepher fell back, gasping for breath and in agony from the countless gashes along their bodies.

Nocturna turned on the spot and fled into a conjured portal.

"Coward." muttered Xepher.

"Perhaps, Guardian. You are a fool for coming here, and now will die." said a feminine voice.

Spinning around, Xepher narrowed his eyes at Aria's host. He then spoke, directly to Aria.

"Hey, you f***ing demon, get outta her, now."

"So, you know. No matter, I will still destroy you, with both the powers of this girl, and my own!" said an raspy, rusty voice. The Pain of Darkness was conjured, and dark met light as the quicksilver clashed against the dark blade.

The swords flashed around with astonishing speed and eventually, both pulled back in sheer exhaustion.

"Tch. A strong fighter, you. Trapped in this mortal body, I cannot kill you. Some part of me prevents me from doing so. Perhaps-" Aria broke off as a full-throated shout shattered the otherwise silent chamber.

Both demon and Guardian glanced at the doorway. Sieghart, in all his majestic glory, stood there, with Kaithlyn, Shadowz and Ruby behind him, panting heavily.

Aria hissed violently. "Sieghart! You..." Aria suddenly leapt upwards and assumed the voice of Kaffleen, just as Huntagon and Nocturna burst through the wall.

"Kill them!" Kaffleen/Aria yelled. Huntagon took one single glance at Shadowz, and charged at his twin, screaming his battle cry. Shadowz retaliated with a gutteral shout.

Nocturna went for Ruby, claws flashing. They fought off to one side. The three harpies appeared out of nowhere, and also assailed Ruby.

Aria/Kaffleen readied her/his blade as Sieghart, Kaithlyn and Xepher advanced on him/her.

"Your time is at an end, and so is your rule, Aria. I should have destroyed you when I had the chance." declared Sieghart.

Aria/Kaffleen was shrouded in a shadowy substance. Kaffleen screamed in agony as Aria finally began to arise from within her.

As she fell to the ground, Xepher leapt at her and caught her from smashing against the granite floor.

Aria laughed madly and gestured. Several portals opened, and all combatants, light and dark, were sucked in to them, catapulting them off to different dimensions and realms.

"And now, I shall begin the destruction of all worlds. By the time you idiots have returned from the warped dimensions, I will have destroyed everything!" He gave a mad cackle.

A storm cloud gathered over the citadel and the demons in the legion suddenly turned against all that were not their kind, killing even the orcs and trolls, their steadfast allies.

Soroga, realizing the change could only mean one thing, immediately ordered a retreat. In the remnants of the opposing forces, the orc warchief also cried retreating signals.

Both armies fled the third, the demonic horde of abominations, as the Dark Era began.
