Cataclysm Toccata 5

Seism formed a a powerful sword of demonic energies out of the rocks he meshed together with his power. Raising the rocks around the chamber, he hurled them at the incoming assailant. The woman dodged and slashed, her powerful forceblade striking his sword.

'Strong. But not strong enough.' snarled Seism as he lifted the gravity fields around him, bring both him and the mysterious attacker up into the air. She flailed about for a second, then resumed her attack, her sword transforming into a whip, which she lashed repeatedly at Seism.

Seism gasped as it struck him in the side once. He twisted his countenance into a monstrous expression of fury, and sent a gravity push towards her. It knocked her back, but she merely leapt up again, and switched to a warhammer. She leapt at him-

-and slowed down in midair, even gravity not working on her as she continued her slow-motion leap towards Seism. With a quick gesture, Seism gravity-pinned her to the ground.

'Not so tough, now, are you?' gloated Licht as she strode into the chamber. She looked at Seism and grinned. 'With her power, Amalgam can be completed even faster. Shall we?'

The hordes of Sentinel rushed at the party of soul warriors, intending to rip them to shreds.

Xepher and Kaffleen led the charge into the fray, Cypheria and Kunou no Yami striking with the speed of light. Hundreds fell under their combined assault.

Then the others came up, laying an onslaught of carnage at the swarms of Sentinel. Shadowz and Jennifer spun through the ranks of Sentinel, blades slicing lithely through the insect-like monsters. Sieghart concentrated, and a magic field surrounded him, as the Sentinel swarms converged on him. Releasing the energy, it blasted outwards and killed all within range. Kaithlyn and Alloyn combined their strength, the psychic guiding Alloyn as she pummeled through the endless ranks like a guided missile. Ruby and Emily brought up the rear, slaying, mutilating and eviscerating those the others missed.

Slowly but surely, they entered the nest. Kaffleen conjured several light globes to illuminate the area. Countless Sentinel swarmed about them, menacing and deadly. They fell under the powers of the soul warriors.

Soon, they reached an area where the walls started to glow crimson. An air of palpable threat permeated the area, whereas before it was just merely dark and unpleasant.

Then they saw the eggs. Rows upon rows...upon rows of rows of massive, pulsating Sentinel eggs. They gasped collectively.

'If they hatch, the world will be overrun...' muttered Xepher. 'Destroy the eggs!!!'

The warriors struck out at the Sentinel defending the egg chambers, then smashed the eggs. As the last one was destroyed by the magic blast from Kaffleen, an ear-piercing shriek echoed through the area. By pure instinct, the party leap backwards.

It was all that saved them, as a barrage of acidic substances washed over the spot they were standing on. They looked upwards and gasped as one.

A Sentinel grown to massive proportions shrieked angrily at them, it's massive blade claws swinging around madly. The Sentinel queen.

'Well...isn't that a big one. Let's go!' shouted Shadowz as he led the charge.

Yes. With the unexpected addition of our assassin here, it becomes faster. Soon, the Liquidus will be formed, and will become our weapon of mass destruction.

How did you find out this Liquidus thing? I do not seem to be able to find it anywhere.

I found it while researching on the powers of this world's defenders. It was quite intriguing and so I decided to try it.

Licht departed from the conversation. Her sword, shaped like an intricate clock-hand, gleamed in the light of the glowing walls. Time. A powerful weapon, if wielded with skill.

She laughed as she anticipated the arrival of their esteemed guests.
