Deathsong Chronicles - Tacet 5

Charging through the demonic stronghold, any demon that blocked their paths were whittled down by magic, psyche waves and blades. Sieghart was at the forefront, slashing at any demon, be it petty gremlins or massive brutes. Xepher hit those that Sieghart missed with various weapons, Kaffleen blasted any cluster of demons into smithreens and Kaithlyn took out those the others didn't.

Soon, they reached the apex of the massive citadel, wide battlements on the walls. And waiting patiently there, was none other than the Great Dark Overlord, Aria himself.

"I have been expecting you fools. You cannot hope to win, and I offer you a choice. Join me, and help me destroy world after world, and I will let you live. Or else swift death. Kneel before me, and say my name. I am Aria, lord of death, prince of darkness!"

"Your name, huh. Well, I'll say your name." snarled Xepher. "You are an asshole. A piece of crap that deserves to be screwed by vermin!"

"..." Aria smiled darkly.

Aria sighed. "Swift death, then." He conjured a crackling sword made of pure darkness and arcanic energies. "You shall all die, and I will take your souls and you will endure endless torment."

Bracing themselves, Rursus's saviours charged as one.

All four swords flashed around Aria, but he deftly blocked and parried them. The first wound on Aria was a glancing one, but even it was bought with lots of blood.

"You cannot win. In a few minutes, my full power will be restored, and I will be invincible!" hissed Aria as Xepher inflicted a small cut on him.

Kaffleen replied something that was unprintable.

"Manners, now, my little girl. But you probably won't learn the lesson until you are in the afterlife!" said Aria.

Aria dodged around and leapt back, and cast a massive ball of raw magic at the quartet. They were blasted away, heavily wounded.

"One last chance, you pitiful imbeciles. Pledge your loyalties and that of your world to me, and you shall live." whispered Aria, his horrific hiss travelling nonetheless.

Three of them were too wounded to speak, but Xepher clambered up. "We refuse to doom our people to eternal slavery!"

"Then die, and let your world die with you!"

Aria charged another ball of raw magic, and this one builded up to thrice the size of the previous strike.

Just as he was about to launch it, a foot came seemingly from out of nowhere and kicked Aria on the chest so hard he was launched back a few metres.

"Hey, sucker." muttered Alloyn, energies filled to overflowing. She had recharged her energies with astonishing speed, and now glared at Aria with pure loathing.

"Well met, Alloyn. But futile in the end." hissed Aria as the other four soul warriors joined Alloyn. "You will die along with the rest."
